International research has evidenced that most of the underfunded community schools in South Africa, Rwanda, Ghana, Uganda and Sierra Leone have no proper sports facilities or duly trained educators.
Our teacher education-cycling for schools programme seeks to address this gap. This provides expert-led continued professional development opportunities for teachers, and cycling skills and racing opportunities for young children in their school environment. Our key aim is to raise the profile of cycling education, skills and activities for promoting the benefits of a cycling lifestyle across a national network of cycling communities, schools, and teachers.
Our teacher education-cycling for schools programme speaks to many of the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and particularly SDG 3 – Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages; and SDG 4 - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
