The Ubuntu Cycling Foundation (CIC) was conceived by former UCI World Championship medallist cyclist and international educationalist Dr Marlon Moncrieffe. The Foundation advances research, education, and community opportunities in cycling cultures and lifestyles across the African continent.
Grounded in the philosophy of Ubuntu — that our shared humanity grows through collective progress — the Foundation works with schools, educators, and community leaders to develop cycling programmes that support learning, leadership, and youth development.
Through community cycling workshops, school-based programmes, coaching, and teacher education initiatives, Ubuntu Cycling promotes access to cycling knowledge, mechanical skills, and leadership opportunities for young people. These programmes aim to strengthen community participation in cycling while supporting pathways into sport, education, and personal development.
The Foundation actively encourages partnerships with organisations, schools, and cycling communities to build local, regional, and international collaborations across Africa. Particular attention is given to supporting young African women in accessing the resources, knowledge, and opportunities needed to participate confidently in cycling and competitive racing environments.
Ubuntu Cycling invites partners, sponsors, and supporters to join this growing initiative to expand cycling education, opportunity, and community development across Africa.
